This time, the project will draw inspiration from the (still) innovative compositions of Philip Glass, known for his significant influence on contemporary musical culture.

Having received his first higher education in mathematics and philosophy, Philip Glass pursued piano playing as a hobby. However, within a few years, during his studies at Juilliard, his name became synonymous with the style of minimalism. Worldwide fame, a Golden Globe, and three Oscar nominations were brought to him by film soundtracks, while mathematics and philosophy remained in his music forever.

Any attempt to describe Glass's piano music invariably uses terminology from both mathematics and visual art simultaneously - it's about structures of repeated patterns that slowly and gradually change in rhythm, speed, or form, creating an immersive sonic landscape of color and patterns. That's why in the duo performance of PIANO&PAINT, we complement the sound of Dmytro Tavanets's piano with visual accompaniment from multidisciplinary artist Nikita Vlasov.
